Challenges Faced by US Prison Administrators
There are external influences which affect the manner todays prisons are run. This has posed a challenge to prison administrator. There has emerged a certain management due to external influence in todays prison. There are various models adopted in prison management shared power model, control of inmate, automatic model and the Bureaucratic model.
Violence is normally considered as induced phenomena due to organization failure. Prison violence and management are issues which are widely covered in every sitting and thus are not new issues. Policies binding prisons change over time raising turmoil on prison administration. The causes of violence remain an issue which requires more explanation. Prison administrators perform activities which may be unconstitutional. This includes imprisonment rates which are introduced to offenders.
Having highlighted on the challenges encountered by prison administrator it is also good to look in to the way out of such menace. Prison administrator should be aware about the commonality of violence and the ways to handle it. Our prisons are governed by policies. The enactment of such policies determines the manner the prisons will be manned. Prison managers should be involved in policy discourse, enactment and also policy implementation.
