Qualitative Social Research involves in the profound understanding of any subject matter in a social context, with politics being one of the frequent zone of study. This kind of research demands an analysis on a massive area of social phenomena. Qualitative social research is a more common concept which can be dealt with a social structure by applying the norms of sociological theory. I had come across a social research topic which dealt with Obesity and its facts where the researcher has narrowed down the topic to Childhood Obesity. The researcher has taken the survey method of study for deriving a qualitative conclusion for his hypothesis. One of the main secondary sources for the subject of research was taken from Health Survey for England 2003. The researcher adopts the comparative study method between the period of 1995 2003 and the present era and the main derivation that he has chosen to prove the hypothesis of the study is the BMI calculation among boys and girls, over this comparative period. Other areas of study that the researcher has also focussed are the percentage of chronic diseased kids and the diabetic kids. The study has proved that the chronic and diabetic has not drastically improved over these nine years however the average BMI level of the kids seems to have slightly developed. The researcher gives a likely conclusion to his topic by stating that the advertisements of junk foods to the kids must be strictly avoided, which will create an impact on avoiding obese among kids.
I, personally feel that the researcher could have also directed his study towards which economic sector kids are more forced to obesity, as I perceive that more of upper class people kids are being obese, while the working middle class kids might have not even tasted the so called junk foods. This kind of focus to the subject must have taken the study to a little detailed perspective.
