Shelter Management Staff Survey

Dear Respondent,

I would like to take this opportunity for all of your hard work and dedication to the shelter. I am inviting you to take part in a survey that will assist the director in gaining knowledge on the aspects that are working well in the shelter and those that need to be changed. Attached is a short survey that touches on all aspects of the shelter. Please review the questionnaire, and if you so decide, please fill out the survey and return it to the directors office.

The purpose of this survey is to help analyze what you, as the employees, see as beneficial aspects of the program. Your participation in this survey will give us the knowledge needed to improve upon the services that we offer to the community. I would like to encourage you to participate in the brief survey so that we may better understand the shelters strengths and weaknesses.

Participation in this questionnaire is strictly voluntary. If you do not wish to complete the questionnaire, it will, in no way, be held against you. If you do choose to participate, your answers will be kept confidential. I would like to thank you, in advance, for your corporation. If you have any questions about the questionnaire please feel free to contact me at 800-555-1234.

Sincerely,

PRE-TESTING
Pre-testing would take place inside the directors office by a committee assembled to put the questionnaire together, gather the employees responses, and formulate the information to turn into the director. The committee would review the questionnaire verbally. They would try to dictate possible answers and ensure that none of the questions were offensive or too personal. The committee would also make sure the questions were concise and to the point to reduce any confusion among the staff members.

COLLECTION
The questionnaire will be administered through hand delivery. By taking the time to print each person a packet with the cover letter and questionnaire and delivering it to the employees, it displays that management is truly interested in what their opinion of the program is. While printing the packet does require time, paper, and ink supplies, it makes the process more personable and with new management it is important to be perceived as concerned and approachable. The staff members would know what day the directors office will be collecting the questionnaire and would have placed theirs into the designated place so that their confidentiality is protected.
